The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini: Eragon

I saw this book one day in my English classroom library, and I was like, There's a dragon, yay! As I love fantasy, I couldn't wait to read it! What furthered my interest was that the summary on the back/cover showed the setting was to be in medievalish times with magic. I love those types of stories.
          Genre: Fantasy/Mystery/Adventure/Young-Adult/Magic/Dragons

SUMMARY:
Eragon is the nephew of Garrow. He never met his mother Selena, and all he knows about her is that she left him in the village Carvahall of AlagaĆ«sia, and she never returned since. One day, he goes hunting in the dangerous Spine when a flash of light and an explosion sounds. In the mist appears a curious gem-like blue stone.
Since it scared off the animals he was hunting, Eragon decided to see if he could sell it to feed his family instead. He couldn't and tells his Uncle Garrow and cousin Roran about his finding. Then one night, the stone hatches. It wasn't a stone; it was a dragon egg.
Both frightened and excited by the discovery that he is now a Rider, Eragon raises the dragon in secret until two of King Galbatorix's servants, the Ra'zac, come to Carvahall, though it is later revealed that they weren't looking for the egg at first. The Ra'zac are monstrous beings who are the predators of man and more. They burned down Garrow's farm, killing him in the process. Eragon and his dragon, who he named Saphria, escape to the Spine, and Eragon vows to avenge his uncle.
On their journey, Brom, the village storyteller who fled Carvahall with Eragon and Saphria, shows his talent for magic and fighting and begins to teach Eragon of those and the ancient language and the history of the Riders. Along the way, Eragon and his friends encounter many obstacles, including a fight with the Ra'zac in which they all would have died had it not been for Murtagh, a superior swordfighter, and rescues an elf named Arya.
Christopher Paolini is a very talented author, although admittedly not all of his ideas are original, but it really is a fantastic story. The classic fantasy, a normal boy suddenly becoming one of the most important people in his world on a heroic quest to stop some sort of evil. There are multiple and intricate plot twists to the series that you'll never see happening. I applaud and cheer for Christopher Paolini as I read every single word from his books.
